Our Dream Home

Mike and I want to eventually build a new home on our property.  We currently have a acre and a quarter of land with a 900 square foot modular home, water rights, and a well.  At first we just wanted to extend our house for a bigger kitchen, extra bedrooms, and a garage.  But we found plans for a house that we love on dreamhomesource.com and are set on building it in the future sometime.  Of course, we would have to get a modular home off our property, but we LOVE this plan we found.

Here's a picture of what we want:

Isn't she a beauty?!  Even Mike is totally set on THIS house an no other.  We both have great taste, don't you think?  It's a 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath house with a walkout basement and 2 car garage.  I love how the rooms in it are set up on the floor plan and the porch.  And with a basement, this house has so much potential.  Mike can have the theatre room that he wants and I can have a sewing/craft room and gym.  But for now, we're happy with what we have.  We're just dreamers dreaming way in advance.

You want to see the floor plans?  That's what I thought.  Here's the first floor:

We're going to want to make a couple changes to it, though.  The breakfast area would be the dining room, the keeping room will be turned into an office for Mike, the dining room will be my library/music room, and we want to extend the porch to wrap around the entire left side of the house for watching the sunset.  We might also turn that notch in the garage into a bathtub/shower extension to the small bathroom.  And I don't think we really need an extra fireplace in the office/keeping room.
I don't even know what a keeping room is...what is it for?

And the second floor:

Not planning as many changes on the second floor, but we want to use the optional closet extension on the master walk in closet as storage space.  And we want more windows to watch sunsets and the moon.

This house is our inspiration to really make a good living and save up what we can.  I'm excited for our future, whether we get the house of our dream or not.  But it would be awesome!
